Cards to warm up your Winter's Day

Hi All,
Today I am sharing some red hot cards to warm up your cold Winter's Day.
I have used some bright colours of alcohol ink & alcohol ink pearls
to make some pretty cool (I mean 'HOT') backgrounds.
Teamed with die cuts & stamping using Paper Rose products
& Gold cardstock.

This first background was created using Alcohol ink with my gel press
through the new Moroccan Tile Stencil.
The Moroccan square die cut from gold cardstock overlays the patterned background.
More gold used in the Layered Hello sentiment die.  The stamped sentiment
from the Hello stamp set in Versamark ink & brushed with Perfect Pearl Powder
as an alternative to gold heat embossing.

For this card I had made an alcohol ink background on Yupo paper that had great contrasting colours.
I layered the Ella's Garden Collection die #17985 cut from gold cardstock
over the top & placed a few coloured diamantes.
The Layered Create die in gold & white cardstock matched with a sentiment
from the 'Beautiful' stamp set, white heat embossed.
Mounted on a yellow alcohol inked card & raised on red fun foam,
with the base card edged with gold washi tape.

For this card I die cut a bright swirly background of alcohol ink on Yupo paper
using the Sunray Background die with a lot of gold alcohol ink in the mix.
It looks brown in most of the photos but in real life it is really glowing gold.
One of the photos below captures this better.
For the underlay of the suns rays I used another alcohol inked paper
that I ran through a swirly embossing folder & then lightly rubbed
over the surface with finnabair gold wax to highlight the texture.
The Hello sentiment was triple layered with white, gold & alcohol inked cardstock.
The Hello stamp set was used for the sentiment.
Stamped with Versamark ink then rubbed lightly with Gold Perfect Pearls powder.
Amber dots scattered to finish.
Mounted on a card that I coloured the edge with Tarnished Brass Distress Stain.
This is an easy way to give a touch of gold to cardstock when needed.

Hope these cards have brightened up your Winter's Day too,
& given you some ideas how to incorporate gold in various ways to your card making.
Cheers for now,
Deb xx

Fairy Garden

Hi There
Today I am sharing a layout of my darling daughter in her fairy costume.

Scrap FX chipboards were perfect embellishments for this page.
They really glow & sparkle with Finnabair Art Alchemy Paints & Sparks Paint.

Viva Decor Modellier-creme Mother of Pearl range of embossing paste
was used through the Butterfly stencil.
Three little butterflies were cut from the Butterfly Transparency
& laid over an embossed shape butterfly.

My photo was mounted on glittery white cardstock.
Journalling written on the computer in a beautiful calligraphy script,
cut into strips & lightly textured by stamping with distress inks.

Thanks for taking the time to read.
Such fun to make such pretty girly pages.
Cheers for now,   Deb

Perfect Pet

Hi There
Today I want to share some journal pages I created paying homage to our dear family pet
who we recently lost after 18 faithful & happy years as part of our family.

I love this happy shot of him taken by my daughter with her Instamatic camera.
Scrap FX had the perfect 'chipboard' sentiment that I knew would match it.

The 'Insta Perfect' sentiment was painted with black gesso then the lower half of the words were heat embossed with versamark & a mixture of clear with platinum UTEE.
I really love this effect.

Other Scrap FX products used with acrylic paint

The background was created by stamping various Texture Stamps with Black Archival Ink
on Tissue paper then tearing up & applying with gel medium to the back ground.
Bright coloured acrylic paints were then scraped across & used  to highlight the stamping.
White Posca pen used for sentiments & highlighting.

Keep on smiling old Spooky!  You were loved so very much.

Cheers for now,    Deb

Aussie Create Cards

Hi Today I am sharing some Aussie Themed Cards
featuring beautiful silhouette dies of Australian Flora
from the new collection from Paper Rose.

I absolutely adore the patterned paper I used for the backgrounds.
I am not sure of the manufacturer as I won it as a prize at a retreat in NZ.
The colours remind me of the Aussie Bush.

The Dies I used were the
Blossom Branch Die #18084
Eucalyptus Branch Die #18102

The Gum Leaves 1 Die #17502
& the Layered Create Die #17997

Sewing & stray threads add texture to the edges
before mounting on grey, black & kraft card stock
Finished with the sentiment raised on a hessian strip,
with the die cut, Tim Holtz metal & Prima sentiments.

Thanks for taking the time to read.
I recommend checking out the large range
of Aussie floral silhouette dies available from Paper Rose Studio.

All the Birthday Sentiments are from the Birthday Transparency sheet
The clouds are heat embossed with Seafoam white powder from Ranger

The flowers are fussy cut after using the Create a Unicorn Stencil & Distress oxide ink.

Embellishments on these cards are highlighted by heat embossing
& with White Posca pen used for doodling.

Number crunch stamp white heat embossed used as an embellishment.

Balloon Words chipboard embellishments are given texture by heat embossing.
Hope you are inspired to make some bright & funky cards too.

Trifold Country Themed Card

Today I am sharing a country themed trifold card
that holds a small surprise inside.

The background is created using a really cool technique using the Gel Press plate
with acrylic paints to make this weathered textured effect.
The different pages created are cut into strips & sewn together on the sewing machine
so they resemble old wood planks with peeling paint.
You can watch Kate Cranes video on YouTube to see how this is done.
Link to that video is here. Faux Distressed Wood with Gel Press.

This country style background really suits the fabulous Australiana series of dies from Paper Rose.
I have used the Bird on a Wire Fence die in dark kraft cardstock here.

Also featured on the cover and inside the card is the Lots of Birds die.
These simple silhouettes are very effective against the busy background.
Also featured is the Layered Happy Birthday dies alternating in white & kraft.

This kraft card folds out in a trifold fashion.
I decorated the inside with the same patched background as I love the look of it so much.
I included this beautiful sentiment heat embossed on a horizontal banner die
& scribble hearts die cut from both white & kraft card.
I made a tag from the same background where you can write your message
or include money or a gift card.
I finished off the pages with a dotted stamped edge from the same stamp set
in Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink.

Hope you like my take on an Australian Country Themed card.

Cheers for now.

Woodgrain Cards

Hi There,
Today I am sharing some cards on a woodgrain background made from papers
my sister in law recently brought over from the USA for me.

They feature beautiful die cut & water coloured flowers from Paper Rose.
The images were stamped & then heat embossed on watercolour paper
with either  black or white embossing powder.

It is fun to do quite a few at a time so you can try out different colour schemes.
I coloured the images with either distress reinkers (which I have stored in a flat palette)
or Twinkling H2O's from Luminarte & a waterbrush.

These beautiful rose designs are from the Ella's Garden Collection from Paper Rose.
The Rose Bouquet stamp comes with some beautiful sentiments & matching dies.
Here I simply used the Layered Congratulations die
in Pearl white card & vellum as a title for this card above.

These flowers above from the Poppies stamp set from Paper Rose
look so real they could be growing from the Layered Hello die.
The Poppy stamp comes with a matching die set too.

This beautiful card combines the stamps & dies used on the previous cards
but in softer tones, coupled with a simple stitched ring die cut.

Hope you like my water colour cards.
So easy & so much fun to make.

Cheers for now,
Deb Adams

Gingham dreams

Hi There,

Today I am sharing a canvas featuring a favourite photo of my youngest son
Wrapped in red gingham on my best friends lap.

The background of this piece was inspired by the fantastic creations of Emma Williams.

It is hard to see in the photos but the background is made up of layers of distress paint & distress crayons in Antique Linen, Tumbled Glass, Weathered Wood & Broken China.

Various red & heart washi tape & white gauze applied.
Embossed texture with a checkerboard stencil highlighted with distress crayon.

Random stamping with Watering Can Archival Ink & a mesh stamp.

The photo matted on a black tag & small Tim Holtz ephemera added.
Scrap FX embellishments painted with black gesso & highlighted with white & blue markers.
Splatters & Doodling around the other ephemera too.

These gorgeous Scrap FX chipboards
were used for the title & the feathers.

The dreamcatcher is a black silhouette.
It has such fine detail!

Hope you are inspired to incorporate a favourite photo into your art work.

Framed Hello

Hi There,
Today I am sharing a framed Art Work that I created featuring stamps & dies from Paper Rose.

This Art Work started with an acrylic paint gel printed background that I just adored.
A favourite image from nana's card collection was distressed & sewn on to the background.

The Paper Rose Stamps & dies give interest & texture to this piece & tie it all together.
The Hello die cut is attached to sit out from the background layer to add a shadow feature.

Love how the Ella's Garden Stamp heat embossed with Ranger Seafoam White Powder
draws out the colours in the background.
Of course this was done before applying all the layers.
Extra subtle texture in the background was made with the Vintage Letter
randomly stamped with Sepia Archival ink.

Hints of gold highlights on the cogs are from Gold embossing paste
lightly applied to corrugated card before die cutting with the cog frame.

The Cog die cuts are used to frame images & tie the composition together.
I love how this piece looks framed in this vintage gold frame.
It is decorating the entrance at home.
Thanks for taking the time to read this piece.
Hope you are inspired to create your own Art Work too!!
Cheers   Deb

that I designed for Scrap FX,
perfect for crafty friends.

I created these colourful layered affects with stamps & stencils from Scrap FX
using Dina Wakley  heavy body acrylic paints on my Gel Press Plate.

Similar patterns were repeated on the inside of the trifold card & on the tag insert.

Stencils used were the Polygonic stencil & Puddles stencil.

The sentiments & focal images on these cards are from the Art Phrases ,

Stamps used were the Chevron Border Stamp, Star Border Stamp

Doodles, highlights, marks & ascerbic writing with various marking pens
add extra texture to these backgrounds.

Hope you enjoyed reading about my Art Obsession
& make some layered mixed media cards yourself..
