Hi There,
Today I am sharing some cards that feature backgrounds created with Paper Rose stencils
& a Blending Brush.
For this first one I used the Distressed Mesh stencil with some soft Distress Oxide colours.
Pumice stone, Tumbled glass, Weathered wood, Peeled paint, Faded jeans
& Tea Dye on watercolour paper.
I added more interest by die cutting the background into layers with the Stitched Rectangle die.
& alternating with some white card layers too.
The Eucalyptus branch & Gum leaves die cuts are cut from precoloured papers,
of Distress oxide sprays of Fired Brick & Iced spruce. with flicks of gold acrylic ink.
The Blossom die is cut from Gold Platinum sprayed cardstock.
The Sentiment 1 stamp set was used with Walnut Stain Distress oxide & Coffee Archival ink.
To hold the card open I applied a strip of kraft cardstock that I had previously covered
with White & Platinum crackle paste.
I love the colours they remind me of an outback creek bed, full of minerals.
The next card's background was created using the Geometric block stencil
& Distress oxide inks in Peacock feathers, Broken china, & Twisted citron.
The Stitched square frame die was used to cut up this page & the pieces offset to form
a geometric pattern on the card front. Some layers raised with Paper foam tape.
The Poinsettia stamp set was silver heat embossed & coloured with Twinkling H20 watercolours.
Part of this stamp fussy cut & then Leaf dies layered behind the flowers.
The layered Merry Christmas die was cut from Vellum & silver metallic sheet.
Wink of Stella clear pen applied to white background gives a subtle silver sheen.
Hard to see in the photos. Blue embellishments & dots used to complete this card.
The Mandala stencil was used here with bright oxide colours.
The blending brush made this blended gradation of colouring so easy.
I used Mustard seed, Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry, Peacock feathers,
Salty ocean, Wilted Violet & Worn lipstick.
Softening the effect by misting with water to make the colours oxidize & drying with a heat tool.
Dot patterns added with Posca pens.
The sentiments were cut from a Vellum sheet & cobalt paper with a beautiful sheen
using the Layered congratulations die & part of the Merry Christmas to you die set.
The Square frame die was used again to add extra interest to the front of the cards.
Alternate layers were raised on Paper Foam Tape strips.
Hope this gives some inspiration to try the Paper Rose stencils & blending brushes.
I only own one. I used a paper towel to wipe the brush off between changes of colour family.
Very easy to use & effective.
Bye for now & happy creating,
Deb Adams
