Paper Rose Stencil Backgrounds

Hi There,
Today I am sharing some cards that feature backgrounds created with Paper Rose stencils

For this first one I used the Distressed Mesh stencil with some soft Distress Oxide colours.
Pumice stone, Tumbled glass, Weathered wood, Peeled paint, Faded jeans
& Tea Dye on watercolour paper.
I added more interest by die cutting the background into layers with the Stitched Rectangle die.
& alternating with some white card layers too.

The Eucalyptus branch & Gum leaves die cuts are cut from precoloured papers,
of Distress oxide sprays of Fired Brick & Iced spruce. with flicks of gold acrylic ink.
The Blossom die is cut from Gold Platinum sprayed cardstock.

The Sentiment 1 stamp set was used with Walnut Stain Distress oxide & Coffee Archival ink.
To hold the card open I applied a strip of kraft cardstock that I had previously covered
with White & Platinum crackle paste.
I love the colours they remind me of an outback creek bed, full of minerals.

The next card's background was created using the Geometric block stencil
& Distress oxide inks in Peacock feathers, Broken china, & Twisted citron.
The Stitched square frame die was used to cut up this page & the pieces offset to form
a geometric pattern on the card front. Some layers raised with Paper foam tape.

The Poinsettia stamp set was silver heat embossed & coloured with Twinkling H20 watercolours.
Part of this stamp fussy cut & then Leaf dies layered behind the flowers.

The layered Merry Christmas die was cut from Vellum & silver metallic sheet.
Wink of Stella clear pen applied to white background gives a subtle silver sheen.
Hard to see in the photos. Blue embellishments & dots used to complete this card.

The Mandala stencil was used here with bright oxide colours.
The blending brush made this blended gradation of colouring so easy.
I used Mustard seed, Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry, Peacock feathers,
Salty ocean, Wilted Violet & Worn lipstick.
Softening the effect by misting with water to make the colours oxidize & drying with a heat tool.
Dot patterns added with Posca pens.

The sentiments were cut from a Vellum sheet & cobalt paper with a beautiful sheen

The Square frame die was used again to add extra interest to the front of the cards.
Alternate layers were raised on Paper Foam Tape strips.
Hope this gives some inspiration to try the Paper Rose stencils & blending brushes.
I only own one. I used a paper towel to wipe the brush off between changes of colour family.
Very easy to use & effective.
Bye for now & happy creating,
Deb Adams

Merry Textured Christmas to you

Hi There,
Today I have created some colourful Christmas Cards
featuring the Merry Christmas to you die from Paper Rose.

The techniques I have used for the die cut sentiments
& backgrounds have resulted in textured & glowing cards.

I had fun creating a lot of coloured backgrounds on Yupo Paper
with various Alcohol Inks including Gold Metallic.
I ran these backgrounds through my Big Shot with different embossing folders.
I lightly sanded the texture before rubbing Art Alchemy wax with my finger over the raised surface.

I die cut these bright backgrounds with the Merry Christmas to you die.
I applied these to a white similar embossed card base matching up the patterning.
The angled die cuts meant I had extra pieces of coloured card to frame the sentiment.

I matted this card on an Inky Antics Paper Background. The colours matched perfectly.
This technique could easily be reproduced using those fabulous papers,
or the Arty Love Collection.  I am definitely going to try that out.

The 'to you' die was cut from coordinating papers for each card.

For this card I added Small Stitched Stars diecuts cut from gold cardstock.
Matted on a green & gold sprayed background from my stash.
Light rubbing of the gold wax to highlight the texture on the white embossed card.

Hope this gives you a few ideas for trying some textured backgrounds with your die cutting.
Also a bold diecut is the perfect way to use those really unusual or bright papers
that you are having difficulty adding to your projects.

Vintage Girls Canvas

Hi There,
Today I am sharing a sweet Vintage Themed framed Canvas
featuring Scrap FX products.

This flat canvas is mounted in a distressed antique frame.
I highlighted the floral edges of the frame with Antique gold Art Alchemy wax.
The mounting board was covered with strips of blue gears & measurement washi tapes.

I applied grit texture paste & crackle texture paste through the beautiful
Flourish Panel stencil onto a 12 x 18 inch flat canvas. Covering most of the surface.
I also randomly stamped into the wet crackle paste with the Medallion Stamp.
Once dry I laid out my ephemera & took a photo before glueing anything in place.
This gives a reference for my original idea to refer back to later.

The focal point of my canvas is the lovely photo of these little girls
all dressed up in gorgeous gingham dresses to have their photo portrait.
I scanned a copy of the original onto thick matte photo paper.
Aged this with Distress Collage medium that dries with a crazed effect.
Similar treatment given to vintage Australian postcard,
then torn in two to mat the photo.
Scrap FX chipboards with vintage & Floral themes
are beautiful accompaniments.

were all colored with Finnabair Art Alchemy paints
in Opal Magic Blue Gold & Sparks Magical Pond.

Before applying the ephemera with matte gel medium
the background was watercoloured & then dry brushed
with blue & brown paints to highlight the beautiful textures.

Other elements from my stash helped to build up the layers.
Gauze, cotton thread & art stones were later dry brushed with the same paints.

Thanks for taking the time to read how I turned a vintage photo into a lovely home decor artwork
with beautiful products from Scrap FX & a little imagination!
Cheers for now

Vintage Collage Faux Beeswax

Hi There
Today I am sharing two Vintage Collage Plaques
with a Faux Beeswax finish.

I really love this vintage style.
The ornate vintage chipboards from Scrap FX
suit this style perfectly.
Most of the ephemera are Tim Holtz or Prima products.
The finish over the collage elements is created with
Emerald Creek Vintage Beeswax embossing powder
from the Seth Apter Baked Texture range.
I just love the translucent, warm, slightly milky surface this creates.

Behind the dapper gentleman I have used the Grandfather Clock chipboard
painted with Tarnished Brass Distress Stain.
Also then dipped in my UTEE mixture (shown below) & heat embossed.
Love this aged finish where you can still see all the fine details
of the clock, pendulum & ornate case.

The two clock hands have been given a similar treatment.
Then layered over a cog with a split pin.
Also love that Kinsmen cigar label!

Here is my UTEE recipe:
A combined mixture of mostly Clear, Platinum with a hint of black UTEE
(Ultra thick embossing powder) Store in a sealed container.
This forms the most unusual effect when applied over Distress STAIN.

Apply distress stain (I love tarnished brass) (can use pewter or copper too)
to chipboard pieces or areas to cover.
Dry with heat tool or leave to dry.
Dab surface with embossing dabber or Versamark inkpad.
Dip into UTEE mix and tap off.
Heat with a heat tool until the mixture melts, bubbles & swirls
to make a really unique finish.
I often dip into mix again while hot to give a thicker layer
or the single layer can give a more bubbled surface.
Fun to experiment with!

Here is my other Plaque.    Love this little chap!
Paper Dolls are such fun to create with.

Here I have used the embossed Spiral Circle Window frame
and the Vine Leaf Corner frame cut into 2 pieces.

The chipboard pieces and some of the ephemera have been embedded
in the embossed faux beeswax layer while still warm.
The beeswax layer was repeated twice.

So hard to show the full effect in the photos.
Both these embossing effects are really cool if you like a vintage style.
Which I adore!! Will definitely be doing more projects like this.
Thanks for taking the time to read.

Mr & Mrs Sparkle Wedding Cards

Hi There
I am sharing these gorgeous wedding cards I made
featuring the Layered Mr & Mrs Die set from Paper Rose.

I really love this sentiment. It is large & dramatic.

So beautiful when matched with Rose Gold foiled papers.

Hard to see but really effective simply cut from glitter cardstocks.
I used an inlay technique to embed the sentiment.
The Stitched Square Frame was also embedded to make a crisp border.

The top white layer slightly offset to give a more shadowed effect.

Rose Gold & Macrame - always popular!
Lovely for a garden or country wedding.

Thanks for taking the time to read.
