I wanted to share this Mixed Media Framed piece
as I was so pleased with the final result.
The old chipped frame was already beautifully distressed.
I just highlighted some of the design by
rubbing with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide straight from the ink pad
& Art Alchemy
Waxes (Opal Magic Vintage Silk & a little Metallique Bronze Age) applied
with my finger.
Lots of layers of Prima Marketing, Finnabair & Tim Holtz ephemera were
used over the coloured background created using lots of techniques.
The background was made from a piece of white cardboard,
base coated with Antique Linen Distress Paint.
Followed by layers of Distress Paint & Distress Crayons swiped
up & down the surface
building up the streaky layers.
Paint colours used were Weathered Wood, Scattered Straw & more
Antique Linen. Crayons in Antique Linen & Vintage Photo were smeared with a moist finger tip.
Texture paste was applied through a Prima Stitches & Circle
stencil.
The same Distress Crayons were rubbed into the dry texture paste
following the contours of the piece.
Splatters of Vintage Photo Distress Oxide & White Gesso
as well as some random text stamping added to the background layers.
It is hard to see in the photo but I also smeared Opal Magic Vintage Silk Wax
here & there to give a subtle sheen.
The Focal point cluster was mainly composed of images from a combination
of
Tim Holtz & Prima Finnabair Ephemera Collections.
Vintage luggage tags, jute string, buttons & a quote from
Authentique paper
were also added to the layers.
Sections of the images were coated with Distress Glazing
Medium 'Crazing' to give a subtle crackled effect.
Art Stones & Mini Art Stones were used to fill some gaps
in the frame.
Hope you enjoy this too. Cheers Deb
